Can Carvedilol be used in someone with COPD? - copd more condition_treatment

This is a case study.

The patient is a 62 and / or people complained of decreased exercise tolerance. He suffered a year ago, 2 MY for which he is a PCI and bare-metal stents .. It is the type II DM, COPD, and hyperlipidemia. Relevant drug verapamil ER is 240 mg, 30 mg of ISDN. NPH insulin for DM and salbutamol and ipratropium for COPD. It is also 81 mg of aspirin per day.

Current ejection fraction was 30% and BP 118/86. HR 74 bpm, the VC 1.4. BUN is 24, and Na and K are within normal limits.

I think that verapamil should be discontinued and replaced with carvedilol, as more has been studied as heart failure, but I am afraid that this is their COPD are affected. Can you tell me what do you have? Please include references (or links) if you are using web resources.

Serious replies only please. Thank you!

The correct answer seems yes and disadvantages no.Coreg is asthma, but studies show that beta blockers do not do to think to be avoided in COPD patients.I Toprol XL, verapamil would replace the best choice.

Check this site for information about carvedilol. As you see, is not recommended for people with asthma, bronchitis or emphysema. In his case study have COPD, it may be a good idea. Hope this helps.

Many patients with advanced lung disease require supplemental oxygen to tolerate exercise. Perhaps something as simple as O2 will benefit him during training could more than one variation of this type of beta-blockers.
